This class focuses on letting children write their own screenplays and record them to put together films using cell phones. In the class we all write a film together using everyone’s ideas, then break into the different areas of film making to let the kids experience the diverse movie roles: director, cinematographer, actors, etc. In the class we’ll learn how to tell stories visually using storyboards, then shoot either a live action or stop motion animation that will have the kids as actors in their own story. In the end they will all end up with a short film to be able to show family and friends, which may be uploaded to the Mami Tales youtube channel.
This course is 8 to 10 classes long. Kids need to bring a cell phone with camera or a video recorder, as well as a memory stick to keep their work.
My son loved attending Erika’s workshop and writing and directing his own short film. He was able to enjoy the entire process from writing to storyboarding to shooting his own film. It was a great experience! Sherry S.
