Erika Grediaga- Writer, Director and Mom
Born and raised in Mexico City, I grew up surrounded by stories. Ever since I was very little, I wanted to be a writer. My Mom understood my passion for storytelling, and she encouraged me to pursue my dreams. I studied a BFA in Film writing and directing at Mexico City’s National University’s School of Film (CUEC-UNAM), and then proceeded to do a couple of extension programs in Producing and Writing at UCLA in 1998. in 2004 I graduated the American Film Institute (AFI) with an MFA in film directing.
After graduating, I worked as a writer for Disney’s My Friends Tigger and Pooh thanks to a Grant from ABC-Disney to write a feature script. Along with my writing partner we developed a multimedia children’s property for Peru, then a series of Children’s DVD’s in the US. In 2008 I became a Mom to my wonderful daughter, which gave me a whole new perspective on Children’s writing, and how Kids imaginations work.
With the birth of my fabulous son, in 2013, I began conducting several workshops for Kids at home, from Cooking and Stories, to Film making, Writing and Acting. Seeing how my daughter and her friends grew and flourished, I created a
series of Workshops to share what we’ve been doing with more children. Hope you and your kids can become part of our storytelling family!
